Piraque-Mirim-Acu Estuary

The Piraquê-Mirim-Açu estuary is located in the Aracruz municipality (ES) and is connected to the APA Costa da Algas marine Conservation Unit  (19o49' S e 40o09'W). This is one of the most well preserved estuaries in the region, and has been fairly well-studied with respect to its benthic estuarine biodiversity (See Bernardino et al., 2018; Servino et al., 2018; Bissoli and Bernardino, 2018). The PELD-HCES is continuing the long-term monitoring of benthic assemblages in this estuary, following established protocols from the ReBentos networw, and also monitoring ecosystem services provided by mangrove forests to local communities.
